DAV 2026 National Convention

 

We are both attending and supporting the 2026 DAV National Convention at the Rosen Shingle Creek Convention Center, 31 July to 4 August.  The African Queen and the Julie Ann will be on display during the convention, and we are excited to share the nonprofit’s veteran and student mission support with a national audience.  DAV Chapter #87 Clermont, FL is sponsoring the African Queen Project.

VFW 5277 Women’s Auxiliary 2nd Annual Fundraising Golf Tournament

 

We are sponsoring a hole again this year and will have the Julie Ann on display at the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Golf Tournament at the Green Valley Country Club, Clermont, FL.  Shotgun starts at 7:00 am with a buffet luncheon and raffle prize giveaway to follow at 12:00 pm.

DAV Chapter #87 Clermont, fl 250th birthday party for America

 

We are supporting the DAV Chapter #87 250th Birthday Party for America and Veterans.  This event is being held jointly with the Kings Ridge Veterans Club and the African Queen Project at the Kings Ridge Ballroom.  Dinner, a band, and a short presentation are part of the evening’s events.  Party starts at 5:00 pm and runs until 10:00 pm.  All veterans and widows are invited to attend.  The event is free.  God Bless the USA and Happy Birthday America!!!!

Kings Ridge Men’s Club presentation

 

We have been invited to do a presentation on the recovery and preservation project, the African Queen.  We are the 1st Kings Ridge resident that has been invited to be the guest speaker in the 20-year history of the Kings Ridge Men’s Club.  We are thrilled to share the nonprofit’s mission and its success with the club, and I personally look forward to a unique and captivating program, LTC Koloc.

McPherson College Summer Institute Program

 

We have been selected to attend the McPherson College Summer Institute “Vintage Engine Rebuilding Course.  This nationally acclaimed school offers a limited number of courses during a three-week phase in June every summer.  This particular class offers 15 student slots, and we were fortunate to have been selected.  This course concentrates on diagnostics and engine rebuilding procedures.  I will be staying in the dorms all week and eating in the student dining hall. We are very excited to be attending this course of instruction!!!!

City of Clermont Memorial Day event at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center

 

We are supporting the City of Clermont Memorial Day Ceremony on 25 May 2026 at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.  The African Queen and Julie Ann will be on display, along with military equipment and weapons.  Joining the ceremony for the weekend are the Traveling Vietnam and OEF / OIF Walls.  We are co-located with the wall, which is a solemn honor.  God bless our fallen.

The African Queen Project Memorial Day speech

 

LTC Koloc has been invited to make the annual Memorial Day speech to the Kings Ridge Veterans Club at 10:00 am at the Kings Ridge clubhouse on 25 May 2026.  This event is well attended, with 200-plus veterans expected.  It is an honor to be selected for this event.

Mission barbeque veterans week celebration

 

We are supporting Mission Barbeques Veterans Week Celebration with the African Queen, the Julie Ann, and a large display of vintage WWII and Korean War military equipment.  We will be joined by the Florida Military Vehicle Heritage Group (We are a Member), who will be bringing several vehicles to put on display.  Event starts at 10:00 am and runs until 5:00 pm.

Kings Ridge Men’s Club and the African Queen Project Host VIP’s

 

We are supporting the Kings Ridge Men’s Club as we host two of our biggest fans: Clermont Mayor Mr. Tim Murray and Mr. Bryant Ortiz, the Veterans Service Representative for Congressman Daniel Webster’s office.  Mr. Ortiz and Mayor Murray have provided significant support to the African Queen Project, and we wanted to show our appreciation by hosting them at our club dinner.

City of Clermont Historic Village Veterans Celebration

 

We are supporting the City of Clermont “Historic Village” Veterans Celebration from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.  The African Queen and the Julie Ann will be on display along with a sizable WWII equipment and weapons display. The historic village has an excellent military museum and was, during WWII, the site of a US Army Searchlight Crew Training School.

VFW Post 5277 and Lakeridge Winery 2nd Annual Car Show

 

We are supporting VFW Post 5277, Clermont, FL, second annual car show.  The show is at the beautiful Lakeridge Winery in Clermont, and features live Music, a DJ, and outstanding food and wine.  The African Queen, the Julie Ann, and a collection of historic WWII equipment and weapons will be on display.  Event starts at 9:00 am and runs until 8:00 pm.  We expect over 200 cars to attend

American Legion Post 63 National Commanders Breakfast

 

We are supporting American Legion Post 63, Winter Garden, Florida, National Commanders Breakfast 8:30 to 10 am on 29 Jan 26.  The “Julie Ann” will be on display, and we will be hosting 3 of our favorite people: CPL Robert Shafer, a 95-year-old Korean War Veteran; the esteemed Dr. Lawrence Buja, Purdue University; and my childhood classmate, Father John Haugen, MA, who is visiting for the week.  Our guest is the National Commander of the American Legion, Mr.  Dan K. Wiley.

VFW Post 5277 80th Birthday Celebration

 

We are supporting the VFW Post 5277 80th Birthday Celebration at Michael’s Foundation on Saturday, 24 January, from 1 to 3 pm. The “Julie Ann” will be on display, and lunch is being provided by the Guy Fieri Foundation.  We will be hosting CPL Robert Shafer, a 96-year-old Korean War Veteran and dear friend.

South Lake High School ROTC

 

We are supporting the South Lake High School ROTC program with displays and 6 hours of PowerPoint presentations to various classes on mission sets in Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa, the Balkans, and others.  This is the 1st of future annual programs we will be doing in Groveland, Florida

We are supporting the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and attending the 2026 Planning Meeting to determine our participation in programs in 2026.  We are planning to join the DAV as a member.

CITY OF CLERMONT School District Career Day

 

We are supporting the Clermont Annual School District Career Day, Clermont, FL, on Thursday, 11th December 2025, from 09:00 am-4:00 pm.  We will set up 2 displays, African Queen and Julie Ann, and conduct classes throughout the day.  We are driving the African Queen to the event with a police escort.  “Story at 10” :-).

2025 Westgate military event for veterans

 

We are supporting Westgate Resorts and the Westgate Foundation, which honors Service Members, Veterans, and Gold Star families during their Military Weekend.  The African Queen and the Julie Ann will be on display.  This event is only open to active duty, veterans, reserve, and National Guard soldiers.

Mission Barbeque Veterans Day Program

 

We will be supporting the Veteran-Friendly Mission Barbeque Veterans Program on Nov 11 from 9:00 am-4:00 pm.  The African Queen will be on display.   Mission Barbeque donates full meals to any veteran who visits any store in their chain.  The Clermont Mission Barbeque has donated meals to the Local FVW, American Legion, and various veteran organizations throughout the year.  They are a very patriotic business, and we encourage everyone to support them.  Come visit, see the vehicles, and grab a meal.

The African Queen joins the Florida Military Vehicle Heritage Group with Mission Barbeque to honor and celebrate Korean War Veterans and the signing of the Korean War Armistice on 27 July 1953.  The Ford GPW will be on display.  Event runs from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The African Queen Project will conduct multiple classes on Civil-Military Operations (CMO) on the subjects of Afghanistan, East Africa, and the Balkans at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).
